BUZZ! Comes to PlayStation Home

Posted by Rob Alvarez // Product Marketing Manager

Great news BUZZ! fans!

We’re going to launch a brand new space in PlayStation Home called BUZZ! HQ, where players can chat and meet up with other trivia fans in a new lobby area or take part in a massive 64-player BUZZ! trivia showdown!

The game works by making you run around the studio on a massive BUZZ! Buzzer to answer questions, all of which are taken from the best content that you’ve created on the MyBuzzQuiz.com website.

Four colored answer buttons are laid out on the floor and you need to make sure you’re standing on the right answer when the time runs out. The winner’s decided over four rounds, and there are a number of exclusive Home prizes up for grabs for the greatest players. We are very excited to be bringing a fantastic new BUZZ! multiplayer game to Home and we know this is going to be a great social experience.

So keep an eye out for the new BUZZ! space, which will go live very soon. In the meantime, check out this virtual tour of the space and let us know what you think.

Keep on buzzing!

KZ2 Patch 1.27 Party System & Major Changes..

Killzone 2 Patch 1.27 Details

Posted by TJ Consunji // Associate Product Marketing Manager

Even though the game has been out in stores for a while, Guerrilla remains committed to keeping Killzone 2 one of the strongest multiplayer experiences for PLAYSTATION 3. This week sees the release of Patch 1.27, which introduces a number of tweaks based on direct feedback from the Killzone community. We sat down with Eric Boltjes, Guerrilla’s Lead Multiplayer Designer, to walk us through the most important changes and the reasons for their implementation.

First of all, Eric, can you run us through the highlights of Patch 1.27?

Sure! Most importantly, we’ve added functionality to make the process of finding and playing with friends much easier, tweaked the Skirmish Mode to keep it interesting for players with lower-bandwidth network connections, introduced a new ‘High Precision’ option to the controller configuration menu, and improved the overall balance of the game. There’s also a host of smaller changes as well, but I’ll save that for the change log.

Let’s start with the first one: finding and playing with friends. How has that been changed?

We’ve examined how party systems work and added similar functionality to our game where possible. The ‘Join Friend’ option has been changed so that the player can automatically join a friend’s faction and squad – even if faction balancing is on. In addition, squads and their factions are now persistent over multiple games, so friends can keep playing together continuously.

Killzone 2 Patch 1.27 Join Game

You said the Skirmish Mode been tweaked – can you explain?

Well, we’ve decided to unlock all the badges in Skirmish Mode. Considering that the game has been out for a while, and that many players have already reached the rank of General, we believe this is a nice way for players with lower-bandwidth network connections to experience the full range of weapons and abilities available in the Warzone.

Control-wise, what exactly does the new ‘High Precision’ option do?

When this option is switched on, it makes the analog sticks more responsive to small movements. Turned off, the controls behave exactly as they did before the patch. It’s not a radical overhaul of the control system, so the layout and the ‘weight’ of the controls remain the same.

Still, a lot of us here at Guerrilla really enjoy the new High Precision option, so we’ve decided to switch it on by default for new players. Existing Killzone 2 players will have the option turned off by default after patching – we wouldn’t want to force a sudden change to the controls on you!

Killzone 2 Patch 1.27 - high precision

How have you improved the overall balance of the game?

For starters, Patch 1.27 allows players to switch factions manually if the factions are unbalanced. If the factions consist of, say, 13 players versus 11 players, a player from the largest faction can manually switch over to make it an even 12 versus 12. Switching in the other direction is not allowed, so players from the smaller team can’t defect to the larger team if the battle doesn’t go their way. Players who switch over retain all their points, but squad affiliations will of course be lost.

Furthermore, we’ve removed the temporary invulnerability awarded to players who spawn at a spawn point other than the base camp. The players will still be safe at their own base camp, but custom-placed or mission-based spawn points do not yield temporary invulnerability anymore. This will hopefully give opposing players already at this location a fair chance.

Finally, we’ve made a couple of changes to the Badge abilities. The Assault Badge, for instance, was deemed too powerful by many players – so we tweaked down its Armor ability from 100 hit points to 50 hit points. The Tactician Badge’s secondary ability (to request air support from a Sentry Bot) has also been tweaked to make the Sentry Bot more useful. It can aim more accurately now, and its health is a little higher as well. To make it even more useful, we’ve reduced the way automated turrets target them, so they’re not shot down as fast. It should certainly make the Air Support Specialist ribbon easier to obtain!

Thank you for your time, Eric!

Thank you, and thanks to all the Killzone 2 fans out there! We hope this patch demonstrates our continued support and dedication to Killzone 2. Stay tuned for more downloadable content and more tweaks coming in the near future!

XI on www.ps3attitude.com *Spoilers*

The Xi guide; Fragments 1-12 [Spoilers]

Submitted by whoelse on Wednesday, 6 May 20092 Comments

Welcome back. Did you know we're recruiting? - why not see if there's a role for you...

xi The Xi guide; Fragments 1 12 [Spoilers]We thought it would be a good idea to write a guide on how to unlock the fragments in Home’s popular puzzle game, Xi.

This guide details how to unlock the first twelve fragments.

Before we start, be aware that this guide is full of spoilers so if you want to complete Xi on your own merit, you should stop reading now…

This guide is divided by each fragment so if you only need help on some of them, you can easily find what you’re looking for.

For fragments that require you to solve puzzles, we have decided not to give away everything so that you can still complete it yourself - think of this guide as ‘extra help’ when needed.

Fragment One: Initiation

To unlock this fragment, visit ‘The Hub’ and find all three pieces of paper on the ground around the room. Once you have done so, you will be told to go to a website where you must go to ‘Puzzles’ and find the odd one out. After selecting the correct picture, you will receive a code to enter into your HoloPad.

Fragment Two: Postcards

To unlock this fragment, visit www.Jess247.com and find a postcard in her ‘Images’. Identify what you see in the picture and go to the website by filling in the landmark into the address on the card. Once on the website, you must enter into the boxes the names of more world landmarks to receive a code to enter into your HoloPad.

Fragment Three: Hexopolis

To unlock this fragment, visit ‘Alpha Zone 1′ and complete all six mini-games within six minutes. It sounds harder than it actually so as long as you remember where to go next after each game, and you run, this can be completed quite easily.

Fragment Four: Maximum-Tilt

To unlock this fragment, visit ‘Alpha Zone 1′ and walk into the ‘Maximum-Tilt’ door on the right-hand side. You must tilt your bike left and right with the sixaxis technology in your controller to avoid the trees, all while following the helicopter. The more centre of the screen the helicopter is, the more points you will collect a the game progresses. Hitting a tree will stop you for a few seconds so be careful. You need to get over 25,000 points to collect the fragment.

Fragment Five: Caverns of the Bandit King

To unlock this fragment, visit ‘Alpha Zone 1′ and walk into the ‘Caverns of the Bandit King’ door on the left-hand side. It’s in the style of a retro game where you must solve the puzzle to find the treasure. Along the way you will pick up items that you may have to use later in your journey.

Tip: Soon after starting the game, you will come across a cave but you must deal with the creature guarding it first before you progress further.

Fragment Six: Miguel’s Secret

To unlock this fragment, visit www.cafeconmiguel.wordpress.com and search through the blog posts to work out Miguel’s date of birth. He isn’t going to simply give it to you, but he does tell you when his birthday is in one of the posts, and his age in another. Once you work it out, enter it into the HoloPad in the format MMDDYYYY.

Fragment Seven: Avatars

To unlock this fragment, visit ‘Home Maintenance’ via the Manhole Cover in Home Square/Central Plaza. You have to get past a security barrier and to do so, you must disguise yourself as a member of the team.

Tip: Look around the Locker rooms. Once you get through, register your PSN ID at one of the screens.

Fragment Eight: Crazy Crane

To unlock this fragment, visit ‘Home Maintenance’ via the Manhole Cover in Home Square/Central Plaza. You have to control two varieties of cranes to collect pieces of a robot. Some good advice is to sometimes drop the blocks of junk that you are moving down the hole too. This may make life easier at finding each robot piece. You must get past the barrier as explained for Fragment Seven to take part in this exercise.

Fragment Nine: Balance the Blocks

To unlock this fragment, visit ‘Home Maintenance’ via the Manhole Cover in Home Square/Central Plaza. You have to shift the green, blue and yellow coloured blocks into the right positions. There is only one tile spare to move each block. You must get past the barrier as explained for Fragment Seven to take part in this exercise.

Fragment Ten: The Lost Note

To unlock this fragment, you have to find a piece of yellow paper with a code written on it. Unlike for the first fragment, the paper is quite big and at around your avatar’s eye level. Europeans will find it somewhere in the Home Theatre, whereas Americans should look for the paper in the Central Plaza. Once you find it, note the code and enter it into the HoloPad.

Fragment Eleven: Deep Water

To unlock this fragment, visit ‘Alpha Zone 2′. The task is divided into two parts; one good fish tank and one evil fish tank. First of all, visit the good fish tank at the end of the room. It is quite clear here what to do as you simply must complete the tasks while avoiding the fish. If you think the first tank is hard, the second one is a lot harder.

Even harder is trying to join it as there normally is a huge crowd gathered in front. The best advice we can give is to try and focus the camera/screen away from the crowd, but in roughly the same direction as the tank. If you still have no luck, press the X button and scroll through all the options till hopefully the game pops up. The fishes are bigger and more deadly in this tank, but you can take your time again. Some good advice is to sit in the same place and simply wait for the pellets to drop to you to lower the risk of dieing. At the end of this tank, the fragment is unlocked.

Fragment Twelve: The Darkness

To unlock this fragment, visit ‘Alpha Zone 2′. Go to the two screens labelled one and two. Screen one involves creating an electric circuit where some areas of the board must have a certain amount of pieces of wire around them. There are three stages to complete. Screen two is slightly easier but you must go against the clock to switch on lights to make columns of either odd or even glowing bulbs. There are ten stages to this one, starting from a limit of sixteen seconds all the way down to just four. Complete both exercises in any order at any time to unlock the fragment.

Killzone 2 “Flash and Thunder” Pack Arriving on June 11

Killzone 2 fans!

As we hinted way back at GDC, the next Killzone 2 DLC goes “retro” with the release of the “Flash and Thunder” pack arriving after E3. Here’s a sneak peek as to what you can expect.

Guerrilla Games takes us back on a nostalgic journey with fan favorites from the first Killzone: Beach Head and Southern Hills. Both levels have been completely re-envisioned with the Killzone 2 engine and technology.

In Beach Head, the Helghast land on the sandy Vektan beaches forcing the ISA to defend their stronghold. Torrential rain and gale-force winds batter the landscape, with the water-filled craters supplying only limited cover. This harsh terrain requires you to keep your “head on a swivel” as enemies lurk around every corner.

Killzone 2 - Beach Head

Southern Hills takes the battle to a central Helghast base camp located on a hilltop. This version has been beefed up considerably over the original Killzone counterpart, with smaller structures offering plenty of hiding places that lend itself well to close quarters combat and long range sniping. Take cover when you hear alarms going off, as there might be a radioactive surprise headed your way.

Killzone 2 - Southern Hills

This pack will be available on the PlayStation Network on June 11th for $5.99. Also, a new Killzone 2 patch is coming next week, so stay tuned to the Blog for more details.

PS Home Updates

This Week in PlayStation Home: Resistance Space Unleashed, Game Launching Confirmed

Whether you are a heroic Sentinel triggerman or a heartless Chimeran killing machine – it’s high time you log into SCEA’s PlayStation Home and join your fellow soldiers as we launch (pun intended) into the next phase of the platform’s evolution.

This Thursday, May 21st, the epic sci-fi shooter franchise Resistance comes blasting into Home with a dedicated game space featuring an awesome turret-style FPS mini-game, reward items, leaderboards and full-on game launching support.

Visit the space early in the day and use the “Four Barrels of Fury” mini-game to trigger your itchy finger. You will be awarded special virtual goods as you further hone your Chimeran ship blasting skills and a nearby global leaderboard will capture and display the highest scores. Then take advantage of your war-torn surroundings and meet up with fellow Resistance fans, old and new, and launch into either co-op or competitive multiplayer matches of the critically-acclaimed apocalyptic shooter, Resistance 2, developed by Insomniac Games.

On launch day, your favorite Community Managers (ahem!) will be on-site to battle with you, and the folks from Insomniac will be dropping in over time to do the same (like next Thursday, from 5:00-6:00pm PT). Best of all, we’ll be designating every Friday night from 6:00pm – 12:00am “Resistance 2: SRPA Siege” nights. We’re inviting you all to show up and contribute to the carnage, whether you are currently fighting the virus or happily succumbing to it.

See you in Home!

MotorStorm Arctic Edge - Your Questions Answered

Posted: 19 May 2009 05:39 PM PDT

After two console-based racing adventures on PS3, MotorStorm finally goes portable this fall with MotorStorm Arctic Edge. You had questions about the environment, multiplayer, and how developer BigBig Studios (Pursuit Force) is going to shrink the game without compromising the action. Fortunately, Game Director Richard Ogden was up to the task.

So, what do you think?

We’ve now shared all of our pre-E3 Q&A sessions, save for one. Look for our Heavy Rain interview next week.

Zombie Apocalypse Coming to PSN

Posted: 19 May 2009 02:31 PM PDT

Hey PlayStation World!

Greetings from Konami and Nihilistic. My name is John Slavin, one of Nihilistic’s game designers on Zombie Apocalypse, the downloadable title from Konami coming to the PlayStation Network next month. I wanted to drop in and show some Zombie love to the PlayStation community and give you some previews to what you can expect to see!

Zombie Apocalypse, heading to PSN

So what is Zombie Apocalypse about?

Zombie Apocalypse is pure and gory wish fulfillment. We wanted to strip off the woes of increasingly complex modern mega-games, and retreat back into the world of dank arcades and late-night movie rentals that was our childhood in the 80’s and 90’s. This was not a game in search of a hook, beyond perhaps one to skewer a zombie on. Our goal was to produce a pure arcade shooter, rooted in dual-stick classics such as Robotron: 2084 and Smash TV. We knew it had to be pick-up-and-play, gory party-game fun, but still deep enough and tense enough to stand among its forbearers. We knew multiplayer was a key feature in a game of this type, so we pushed hard to get four-player online co-op integrated from the start. With core values in place, we set out to fill that savage coffer with all the classic zombie lore we loved.

There was never any argument over style when it came time to design the aesthetics. We are all huge fans of classic zombie films, from Romero, to Fulci, to Danny Boyle, we love it all. We wanted to pay homage to the classic “big box” horror films–the true exploitation flicks that proudly exclaimed how many countries they had been banned in on their garish posters (Zombie Apocalypse has already been denied by Cero in Japan!). There would be no cell-shading or cartoon ghouls. This was to be a real stomach-turner, steeped in zombie history with little nods to the masters of the genre sprinkled throughout.

Zombie Apocalypse 002

Deadly Environments
In the best zombie films, the environment is as much a character as any of the victims, and we weren’t content to let our backdrops be only set-dressing. To begin, we wanted to find locales that would reflect the best moments in zombie film history. We have a graveyard with a crematorium that spews green gas, in a nod to Return of the Living Dead. Then there’s the woods surrounding the lonely cabin of a certain Dead turned Evil. After our seven locations were cemented, we began to work in a series of deadly hazards. There are spinning rotors and a jet turbine in the Airport, car crushers and grinders in the Junkyard, and an out-of-control garbage compactor in the Town Square. For Zombie Apocalypse, the environment is as much a weapon as your guns or chainsaw, and we really want to challenge the player to get creative with their kills. Sure, you can plug that zombie with your M-16, but can you lure him into the wood chipper along with a half-dozen of his shambling friends for big score bonuses?

Four Unlikely Heroes
For our heroes, we knew that bald-headed bad-asses just wouldn’t do. The Zombie Apocalypse is a plague that has stripped mankind of its place atop the food-chain, and the ones who were left were all unlikely survivors. We started with Harlan Woods, heavily inspired by the lead character in George Romero’s original Night of the Living Dead film. We then added Natalie Flores, our tough but mentally-unstable female lead. A bartender with no customers left alive to serve double shots to, she’s content to serve up plenty of double-ought shots to zombies. To round out the roster we added Ed Fragsen, the lonely and broken security guard with nothing left to lose, and Jimmy86, the arcade-rat geek who’s really a reflection of the designers themselves set loose on the zombie hoards as though it were a game come to life.

Zombie_Apocalypse_Character

Zombie-Killing Arsenal
With our theme, our environments, and our heroes in place it was time to refine the gameplay. We didn’t want the player to ever feel like they didn’t have the tools necessary to deal with the undead masses coming at them. This is why there is always a chainsaw strapped to your back, ready to go, as well as your default M-16 that never runs out of ammo. With their trusty chainsaw the player has the option to either just slice-and-dice or to put themselves at risk and go for a grisly “Chainsaw Execution” move (more on that later). Also at the player’s disposal is “zombie bait” which takes the form of a cute and talkative teddy bear strapped to the gills with C-4 and counting down to his “big surprise.” The zombies find his chatter irresistible, and will follow him to their death. There is also an entire arsenal of weapon drops the player will come across, ranging from a flamethrower, to a chaingun, to dual smg’s and a shotgun (10 in total).

Zombie Apocalypse 001 Zombie Apocalypse 003

Racking Up the Score
Wrapped around these instruments of death are a score multiplier system and an intricate series of bonuses the player can earn. Each stage of the game represents a Day in the life of the survivors, with the ultimate goal to survive all 55 Days of terror. Each day, the multiplier begins to climb the longer the player can stay alive and keep killing zombies, boosting the value of each kill as they go. The score system is designed to be layered, so that each positive action by the player feeds into the next. For example, by rescuing survivors the player earns a score bonus for the rescue as well as a fresh zombie bait to replenish their supply. The bait is great for luring zombies into environmental hazards, which yield score bonuses for each kill. Bonuses are affected by the score multiplier, which is given an extra boost when players put themselves at risk and use their “Chainsaw Execution” move. It’s all about giving the player as many zombie-killing options as possible, and then finding a way to give each action meaning within a larger context.

55 Days of Terror
Finally, our goal was to give the player a great value. There’s a lot of competition in the downloadable arena, and we wanted to make sure picking up Zombie Apocalypse was a no-brainer (pun intended I suppose). We have 55 increasingly intense levels across seven unique environments in the main game, unlockable modes including the punishing “7 Days of Hell” and “Hardcore” modes. We also have full 4-player local and online multiplayer support in all modes, as well as full trophy support for the PS3. Our hope is to have created something that arcade fans, zombie fans, and even the casual player looking for a quick fix or some bloody multiplayer fun will enjoy and keep coming back to. This is a game we had a lot of fun making, and we hope will be as much fun to play once it is unleashed upon the PlayStation Network.

LittleBigPlanet “The Patch” - Family Guy’s Joe Vaux

Posted: 19 May 2009 12:01 PM PDT

I had been working with my friends Ken and Tonny over at Von Dutch and Planet Illogica for about a year. These two are looking for ways to use their skills and connections to help artists market themselves to a broader audience. Early this year I got the call from Ken to come down and meet the folks of PlayStation and design a LittleBigPlanet level. A day or two later I was sitting at the Von Dutch office in front of flat screen TV with Leo, the guy who produced LittleBigPlanet, gawking at this amazing game.

Leo led me through a basic tour of the game’s potential. I could tell it was just the tip of the iceberg. While other artists around me worked away on their levels with a PS representative, I felt like I needed some time to let what I had seen sink into my thick skull. That night I sat down with pen and paper and sketched out a schematic for what would become the Joe Vaux level. The next day I cruised over at lunch to present my drawing to Leo. He seemed inspired. Knowing I needed to get back to work, Leo took the drawing and began the construction.

A couple of weeks went by and I get and email from KG. “Have you seen your level?” he asks. Then he iChats some stills from the world I designed. My jaw hit the floor. Now I have to admit, I’m not much of a gamer. I just don’t have time between being a father, an assistant director on Family Guy and a painter. But, if I did have time I would eat this game for breakfast, lunch and dinner. What a blast to design and build your own game. Kudos to PS!

To the fans of PS and LittleBigPlanet: Don’t judge me, enjoy and bask in the ability to create and share with the magic of this fantastic game. Thanks to all the the great people at PlayStation (Katie, Ginger, Leo and Jeff) and to Ken Goldstein and Tonny S. for presenting this great opportunity. You guys Rock!!!

Is this PS3 Slim Rumor still Alive? Comments?

PS3 Slim photos spark legal saber-rattling

Acting on behalf of mystery client, a Taiwanese law firm asks online media outlets to remove photos dismissed by Sony--reigniting rumors that they could be authentic.

Typically, the "Big Three" console makers--Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony--decline to comment when purported photos of new hardware designs leak. That wasn't the case last week, when Sony Computer Entertainment Europe flatly dismissed what looked like snapshots of a new 120GB slimline PlayStation 3. "We currently don't have any plans for a redesigned PS3," a rep told UK outlet CVG, appearing to put a stake in the heart of the matter.

However, all that changed this week when the Taiwanese law firm of Li Mo and Associates sent out letters to various gaming outlets--including GameSpot--demanding photos of the PS3 Slimline be removed forthwith. Sent on the behalf of an unnamed client, the letter contains language which suggests the photos may be authentic and not a knock-off console like the much-mocked Vii.

The same letter sent to GameSpot was also received by tech blog Engadget and game site Spong, and reads as follows:

Dear Sirs,

As appointed by our client, we hereby inform you that the Web pages on your Web site (as attached hereto) contain some of our client's confidential documents and photos, which were highly possibly illegally released and posted.

We are investigating this violation and will bring all necessary legal actions regarding this matter. In order to protect the confidential information and prevent you from further legal issues and infringements, please immediately remove those pages and keep our request confidential. Thank you for your cooperation.

Your cooperation is deeply appreciated.

When contacted by GameSpot, Sony Computer Entertainment America declined to comment on the letter, whether it had any relationship to Sony, or the PS3 Slim photos' authenticity. "We don't comment on rumors or speculation," a corporate communications representative said.

Fallout 3 DLC Announced For Playstation 3 and Two New DLC For All

The wait is finally over for Playstation 3 owners, this morning Bethesda announced that downloadable content will be coming to the PS3 version of Fallout 3. They also revealed two new DLC packs for all.

Operation: Anchorage will hit the PS3 in late June, followed by the release of The Pitt and Broken Steel four to six weeks apart. In addition, a new patch will be released for the PS3 that will let gamers download and play the new DLC.

As rumored, there are also two new DLCs planned for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360:

Point Lookout – Explore a massive new swampland area filled with new quests and content. Point Lookout will be available in late June for Xbox 360 and PC. Cost will be 800 points or $9.99. It will be available through Xbox Live and Games for Windows Live and through token cards available at retail. Point Lookout will be available on PS3 after the first three DLCs have been released.

Mothership Zeta – The aliens have returned, and they're pissed. Experience an alien abduction first hand and find out if you're tough enough to survive. Mothership Zeta is scheduled for release in late July for Xbox 360 and PC. Cost will be 800 points or $9.99. It will be available through Xbox Live and Games for Windows Live and through token cards available at retail. Mothership Zeta will be available on PS3 after Point Lookout.

Finally, Bethesda plans to release some of the DLC on disc this summer and a Game of the Year edition this October.

Fallout 3 Game Add-on Pack #1 includes The Pitt and Operation: Anchorage on a disc and will be available for Xbox 360 and PC on May 26. The Fallout 3 Game Add-on Pack #2 includes Broken Steel and Point Lookout on a disc and will be available for Xbox 360 and PC in August.

Retail versions of the game add-on packs for PS3 are not possible and the DLC will only be available for download online via PlayStation Network.

A Fallout 3 Game of the Year edition will be available in October. It will include the original game plus all five add-ons for $59.99 for Xbox 360 and PS3, and $49.99 for PC.

Stay tuned for our impressions of Point Lookout, which will be playable at E3 this year.

05/19/2009 Written by Dan Massi

playstation-home-peeps

In a recent post on the PlayStation Forums, CyndoniaX detailed PlayStation Home’s 1.21 update. But what really grabbed everyone’s interest is the fact that she briefly spoke about picture frames. And guess what? They are coming…

Just not in the 1.21 update. However, CyndoniaX did hint that it’s coming very soon, and will be part of the Home application once E3 rolls around. She also discussed the items that vary in all the different PlayStation Homes. She explains that every different region has its own business deals, which means that items available in Japan may not make it to the North American Home.

Remember, the 1.21 update hits PlayStation Home this Thursday, so don’t forget to pop into virtual reality and download it. For more information on Home, stay tuned on PlayStation LifeStyle!

  3. By sending or accepting a challenge in the challenge system, you acknowledge that you have read, understand, and agree to abide by the rules posted here. This includes posting or accepting challenges on the Match Finder.

  4. Our goal here at GameBattles is to provide gamers with a place to find fair and competitive matches. In order to accomplish this goal, we will not tolerate players or teams that cause problems or attempt to undermine the positive atmosphere on GameBattles. This includes teams that cheat, dispute on purpose, or repeatedly abuse players. Violators will be dealt with accordingly including possible removal from GameBattles. As with all accusations, valid proof must be provided. Please see the proof section below.

  5. GameBattles prohibits members from creating or managing more than one team on a ladder from the same household as well as competing against each other. Multiple people from the same household may compete on GameBattles; however, only one username can be in a management position on a team. For example, only one username can be a Co-Leader or Leader on a team. All other usernames from the same household cannot be anything higher than member on any team.

Rosters

  1. It is both teams responsibility to verify the eligibility of all players playing in the match prior to starting or continuing any match play. A team playing with an ineligible player will forfeit the match.

  2. If the opponent team has an ineligible player present, ask the team to replace that player. You must have given the team the required 15 minutes from match start time to substitute their ineligible players. If the ineligible player shows up between maps/rounds, you must give the team the required 5 to replace their ineligible player. If the team does not substitute their ineligible player and allows that player to compete in the match, follow these steps:

    • Immediately submit a ticket stating an ineligible player was present. This ticket must be submitted before starting or continuing to play the match.

    • When the match is completed, you must go back to your ticket and submit the URL link containing valid proof showing the ineligible player playing in the match. Without valid proof, no win can be awarded.

    • Tickets submitted after the match is completed are not valid. You must submit a ticket immediately when the issue arises as stated above.

    • All gamertags on a team’s roster must be valid. The gamertag must be legitimately owned by the user on the roster. If the team cannot access the gamertag or has an invalid gamertag on the roster, the team is subject to being locked.

  3. The rules below outline our policies on rostered players. Please see rule number 2 if the following rules are broken:

    • Users are permitted to be listed on only one team on each ladder at any given time. Users are only permitted one gamertag per ladder.

    • All roster spots must be comprised of only one valid gamertag. Spelling and spaces must be exact, but does not need to be case sensitive.

    • Gamertags may not contain foul language, disparaging remarks, hateful or racist names.

    • Players must have a green eligibility icon  next to their name to participate in matches.

The match can also be removed at any time if both teams submit tickets agreeing to have it removed. Both teams are also recommended to post feedback stating they wish to cancel the match. No-Shows

  1. A team has 15 minutes to show-up with the proper number of eligible players indicated in the match details (i.e. 3v3 would be 3 players), and be ready to start the match. Failure to do so will result in a forfeit. Teams are responsible for all scheduled matches.

  2. To receive a no-show win, you must submit a ticket within 30 minutes of the scheduled match time. You must also report the match as a win for your team.

Reporting

  1. Both teams are responsible for reporting the match within 30 minutes of its completion. If teams do not report matching results, the match will result in a ‘dispute’. Both teams are then required to submit a ticket regarding the dispute and include any valid proof they have. Teams can also resolve their own disputes by changing the scores they reported for the match. To do this, teams must go into the match report screen for the disputed match and change the scores within 24 hours of the scheduled start time.

  2. Teams that have 3 or more disputed matches will be automatically locked and unable to play additional matches. The team will not be unlocked until they have less than 3 disputed matches. To resolve disputes, please see rule number 1 above.

  3. Matches that go unreported by one team will be reported automatically for the team that did report. Matches that go unreported by both teams will be deleted automatically.

  4. Any team found to report as the winning team before the match is played or completed will be subject to penalties.

  5. All matches need to be reported correctly by both teams. If there is an issue with a match, the match must first be reported accurately and then a ticket containing your valid proof can be submitted afterwards. Do not dispute the match on purpose. Please see the proof section below for more information. If your claims are found to be valid with proof, an Admin has the ability to revert the match.

  6. Disputing a match on purpose will result in penalties for your team.

    • The first time a team disputes on purpose without valid proof, the team is locked for 6 days and the team warning level is increased to level 1.

    • The second time a team disputes on purpose without valid proof, the team is disbanded and the member that disputed is banned as well as the leader of the team.

  2. When submitting a ticket, fill out all applicable fields. Submitting an incomplete or incorrect ticket will be closed without being processed. You are required to select your team name from the drop-down. If you are submitting a ticket about a match, you must also fill out the match ID or your ticket will not be processed.

  3. All admin decisions are final. If you would like your case looked into again due to new evidence, feel free to submit a new ticket. Submitting a ticket without additional evidence is argumentative and you risk your team being locked. Do not post in the forums regarding a ticket issue.

  2. We recommend all video proof should be uploaded to the GB Game Room. Picture proof can be uploaded to your GB profile. The URL link to the individual pictures/proof must be placed in a ticket.

  3. For all glitching and cheating claims, the burden of proof is on the accuser. To submit a glitching or cheating claim, you must submit a ticket and include the URL link containing valid proof.

  4. All conversations between users are not considered proof. This includes AIMs, emails, PMs, etc.

Settings

    • General Settings
      • Game Name: Challenge Details
      • Max players: The max number of players in the match plus 2. (ie: A 4v4 would be a max of 10.)

    • Restrictions - If an item below is restricted via the match details, it is not allowed for use. If a team is found using a restricted item they will lose the map in which the item was used on. Valid proof will need to be provided.

      • Assault Class: Challenge Option
      • Rocket Launchers & Grenade Launchers: Challenge Option

  2. The following settings are set for each game mode.

    • Body Count
      • Mission Time: 10 Minutes
      • Maximum Kills: 50

    • Capture and Hold
      • Point Maximum: 250
      • Minimum Capture Time: 10 Seconds

  3. If Warzone Only is selected to be used in the Match Details then the first map out of the 3/5 randomized maps will be used for the Warzone game mode. The above 4 game types will need to be used for the Warzone game mode. If a team has the incorrect settings in or during a Warzone mode, the present game type is immediately forfeited and the room is abandoned. A new room is to be made with the correct settings and the score in favor of the non-hosting team.

Matches
  1. All matches must be played in their entirety unless both teams agree to postpone the match or remove the challenge. If agreed, both teams must submit a ticket requesting the postponement or challenge removal. A referee can be contacted to witness the agreement details.

  2. Teams can play a best of 3 (first team to win 2 maps wins the match) or a best of 5 (first team to win 3 maps wins the match).

  3. The room is to be created by the higher ranked team. It is the responsibility of both teams to check the settings of the game before the match starts. If both teams start the match with incorrect settings, the match will stand unless the map, game mode, or time of day is incorrect, which would result in the map needing to be replayed.

  4. In a best of 3, the higher ranked team picks the first side on the first map, the other team chooses the first side on the second map. In a best of 5, teams will alternate picking first sides for the first four maps, starting with the higher ranked team. In both cases, whichever team won the most overall rounds gets to pick the first side for the final map. If both teams have won the same amount of overall rounds, the higher ranked team gets to pick the first side for the final map. If neither team is ranked, the team with the id closest to 1 will be considered the higher ranked team. Rank is determined at the scheduled time of the battle.

  5. Teams may not delay the match for more than 5 minutes between each map. If a team delays the start for longer than 5 minutes between maps, they will forfeit that map. The team that did not delay must submit a ticket with valid proof showing that this delay did occur. First, the match must be completed and the scores must be reported correctly. Do not dispute the match on purpose. After the match is complete, submit a ticket containing the URL link of the proof.

  6. If a player disconnects during the initial launch of a map, the map will be restarted. The initial launch is defined as within the first 30 seconds or before the first kill. If both teams disagree over when the disconnection took place, video proof must be provided. First, the match must be completed and the scores must be reported correctly. The URL link of the proof must be submitted in a ticket once the match is completed.

  7. If a player disconnects after the game has started, the game will continue and a player may be re-invited. The re-invited player may be the player that dropped or a new eligible player. The only exception to this rule is for a "Kill Dependent Game Mode". Please see rule 8 below.

  8. A "Kill Dependent Game Mode," often referred to as Body Count, is a game mode whose winner is decided by the overall number of kills, or points gained from kills. Because this mode relies on the number of players present, a team can never play shorthanded when playing this mode. A Team that loses a player during this game mode, after the first kill has occurred, forfeits that map.

  9. Deliberate and repeated team-killing or committing suicide on purpose during Body Count will result in a forfeit of the map. If a team is accused of violating this rule, the accuser must provide valid video proof. First, the match must be completed and the scores must be reported correctly. The URL link of the proof must be submitted in a ticket once the match is completed. An Admin has the ability to overturn the match if valid proof is provided.
